Job summary

Amazon in Austin, TX is seeking a Cloud Hardware Development Engineer Intern to help turn custom silicon into usable products. You'll work on boards and systems for ML servers and accelerators, writing firmware and low-level software that runs on hardware.

You’ll debug with lab equipment and collaborate across ASIC, systems, and software teams. We place you on a team aligned with your interests, offering mentorship and real ownership from day one.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in electrical/computer engineering or CS with 2027 graduation or later.
• Experience with digital logic design and computer architecture concepts.
• Familiarity with HDL languages (Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL).
• Understanding of digital design concepts such as timing and clocks.

Responsibilities

• Assist design, bring-up, and validation of hardware systems and subsystems.
• Develop firmware or low-level software interfacing with hardware.
• Debug hardware–software integration with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
• Write and run tests to validate hardware functionality and reliability.
• Collaborate with ASIC, systems, and software teams to move designs to deployment.
