Syms Strategic Group, LLC (SSG) is seeking a Data Platform Engineer for a remote, full-time role focused on modernizing a healthcare data platform. You will help evolve from MSSQL XML to a scalable cloud-native AWS architecture and design reporting layers for business users.

You will evaluate AWS data services, ensure efficient data migration, and collaborate with analysts and .NET engineers. A Public Trust (MBI) clearance is relevant for this opportunity.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' experience in software or data engineering with a strong AWS focus.
• Experience migrating cloud data platforms in production enterprise or healthcare environments.
• Strong SQL skills and data modeling for relational and semi-structured data (XML/JSON).
• Hands-on experience with XML data stores and data transformation.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and AWS-native tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead the next phase of healthcare data platform modernization.
• Evolve from MSSQL XML object store to a scalable AWS data architecture.
• Evaluate AWS data strategies and storage options (S3, Athena, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, OpenSearch).
• Design reporting layers for business users to run SQL queries on healthcare data.
• Architect migration of XML data into the AWS platform with optimal formats and partitioning.
• Build and maintain AWS data catalog, schemas, and metadata management.
• Optimize query performance and cost across AWS services.
• Collaborate with analysts to translate reporting needs into data models.
• Work with .NET engineers to ensure data flow from EDI pipelines.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using CodePipeline/CodeBuild/CodeDeploy.
