Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Data Center Technician to support hardware and network diagnostics, repairs, and on-call rotations across AWS data centers. You will work with a diverse team of engineers, suppliers, and operations staff to maintain high availability of AWS services.

The role requires physical stamina for visiting data centers, lifting up to 40 pounds, and travel between sites as needed. A relocation stipend is available for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• 18+ months of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.
• 18+ months of computer layer 1/2 networking experience (including troubleshooting and repair).
• Understanding of Linux or similar operating systems.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT-related field (e.g. computer science, network engineering, etc.).
• Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+).

Responsibilities

• Performing server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, troubleshooting network issues, responding to operational incidents that impact service availability.
• Serving as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
• Performing on‑call duties and participating in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
• Contributing to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
• Helping to interview, train and onboard new team members.
