Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Technician to perform server rack installations, hardware repair, and network diagnostics, helping maintain high service availability across our data centers in Oregon and beyond.

You will join a diverse team of engineers, operations staff, and security specialists, working on 24/7 coverage including night and weekend shifts. The role requires travel to data center sites and on-site collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 18+ months of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.
• 18+ months of computer layer 1/2 networking experience (including troubleshooting and repair).
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent IT experience or military experience.
• Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+) are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performing server rack installations, hardware break-fix on various components, troubleshooting network issues, responding to operational incidents that impact service availability, and carrying out routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs to contribute to the overall availability of AWS services.
• Serving as a primary contact point for both internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
• Performing on-call duties and participating in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
• Contributing to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on your analysis of operational issues.
• Helping to interview, train, and onboard new team members.
