Job summary

Vonage, a global cloud communications leader, seeks a senior architect to drive a lean architecture practice within a central team. You will provide architectural clarity, define reference models, and set patterns that enable distributed teams to move fast and confidently.

You’ll lead strategy across networks and platforms, push standardization, mentor engineers, and partner with product leaders to translate business needs into scalable, AI-enabled solutions in a fast-moving, agile environment.

Qualifications

• Deep experience in a senior architecture role with cross-team scope.
• Ability to translate business needs into scalable solutions and reduce costs.
• Expertise in cloud-native, distributed systems on AWS.
• Strong Java experience.
• Experience with SaaS APIs and developer-facing platforms.
• Proficiency with microservices, Kubernetes, Kafka, CI/CD, DevSecOps and IaC.
• Ability to apply ADRs and C4 diagrams in practical ways.
• Strong communication and influencing skills with stakeholders.
• Experience balancing architecture with team autonomy in fast-moving agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve architecture strategy and target states across networks and platforms.
• Shape technology direction through standardisation, simplification, and platform investments.
• Coordinate cross-domain architectural initiatives (resilience, security, observability).
• Champion architecture governance (ADRs, Well-Architected practices).
• Partner with engineering and product leaders to translate business needs into scalable solutions.
• Provide hands-on support in solving complex architectural challenges.
• Communicate architectural vision to technical and business stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers and architects and contribute to internal communities.
• Treat AI-assisted engineering as a core part of modern software practice and guide adoption patterns.
