Job summary

Vonage is seeking a senior backend engineer to design and develop highly concurrent, distributed backend services in a cloud-native environment. You will own architectural decisions, drive performance optimizations, and contribute to release readiness while mentoring junior engineers.

The role emphasizes Go development, scalable databases, and containerized infrastructure with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform expertise. Join a team building enterprise-grade communications platforms.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in Go (Golang).
• Proven experience with enterprise-grade systems at scale.
• Experience with highly concurrent distributed architectures.
• Experience contributing to architectural decisions.
• Experience with containerised applications and cloud-native environments.
• Experience with REST/HTTP based services.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, Redis).
• Strong test design skills across Unit/Integration/Smoke tests.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop highly concurrent, distributed backend services with high availability.
• Own architectural contributions and drive decisions across teams.
• Lead performance optimization and diagnose complex system issues.
• Design, develop and test new features with a focus on quality and reliability.
• Support release and documentation of features.
• Define and champion coding standards and processes.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide on-call support.
