Job summary

Dover Precision Components seeks skilled machinists to set up and operate manual lathes and mills in a high-precision environment. You will read blueprints, determine speeds and feeds, sharpen tools, and verify tolerances with appropriate gauges.

Candidates should visualize finished parts, report blueprint corrections, and maintain safety and quality across the production cell. Prior shop experience with adjustable tooling and fixtures is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with two years shop training or equivalent.
• 2–4 years’ experience operating a manual mill or lathe.

Responsibilities

• Operates lathes, mills and other production equipment with moderate supervision.
• Works from drawings, process sheets, specifications or layouts.
• Studies drawings, layout sequence of operations, and performs set-up.
• Adjusts machine and acquires tools, fixtures, etc. as required for job.
• Keeps tooling in proper working condition and work cell clean and neat.
• Selects proper chuck and fixture for securing the work piece to machine.
• Performs close tolerance machining operations such as forming, boring, turning, facing, drilling, tapping, honing, etc.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment and follows all company safety directives.
• Performs work assigned of equal or lower classification in other areas of the shop on temporary basis as required.
• Submits final inspection reports and documentation as required.
