Job summary

Dover Precision Components in Odessa, Texas, is seeking a Manual Machinist who will set up and operate manual lathes and mills to exacting tolerances. You will read blueprints, determine speeds and feeds, sharpen tools, and maintain a clean, safe work area onsite.

The role requires a high school diploma with shop training and 2–4 years of manual mill/lathe experience. Weekend work and overtime may be required to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with two years shop training or equivalent.
• 2–4 years’ experience operating a manual mill or lathe.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operates lathes, mills and other production equipment with moderate supervision.
• Works from drawings, process sheets, specifications or layouts.
• Performs set-up by studying drawings and layout sequence of operations.
• Adjusts machines and tools required for the job.
• Maintains tooling in proper condition and keeps work area clean.
• Selects proper chuck and fixture to secure parts.
• Performs close tolerance machining (drilling, turning, boring, honing, etc.).
• Performs routine maintenance on equipment.
• Grinds or sharpens tooling as needed.
• Adheres to safety directives and works extra hours as needed.
