Job summary

University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City seeks a Laboratory Coordinator for the Correlative Lab within the Cancer Center to manage specimen collection and shipment for oncology trials.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensure protocol adherence, and support start-up activities, monitor visits, and other duties as assigned. This is a 100% onsite role, with travel as needed between facilities.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant work experience; education may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
• Experience with HIPAA guidelines and research regulations.

Responsibilities

• Obtain, document, process and manage serial specimens (blood and other bodily fluids) from patients in clinical trials.
• Request and ship pathology requests for the CTO. Collaborate with Tissue Repository staff to obtain and ship tissue specimens per guidelines.
• Perform study-specific ECGs and transmit data to the study database.
• Reference and maintain study protocols and central lab manuals.
• Inventory maintenance of study supplies, including kit quantities and orders.
• Coordinate collection of central study samples with nursing, coordinators, physicians and patients.
• Data entry in Hospital and Laboratory information systems per policies.
• Ensure specimen integrity (positive patient ID, correct specimen, proper transport).
• Use EMR (Epic) and Outlook lab calendar to set up collections and courier schedules.
• Participate in weekly lab rotation and Friday handoff emails.
