Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator to support investigator teams and collaborate with Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. You will ensure compliant conduct of clinical research studies across NMH with emphasis on safety and protocol adherence.

The role requires an Illinois RN license, BSN, clinical trials experience, and CPR-BLS. You will mentor staff, coordinate studies, and support adverse events while advancing nursing research within a

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing.
• Experience in clinical trials and research coordination.
• BSN with at least two years of related clinical experience.
• CPR-BLS certification through AHA.
• MSN and/or SOCRA/ACRP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads coordination and support to Principal Investigator(s).
• Reviews research studies in pre-submission phase for feasibility of protocol implementation.
• Guides the review, revision, and maintenance of protocols. Ensures compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Provides guidance to clinical research nurses on projects related to new study submissions, utilization reviews, wording/phrasing of orders, protocols and workflows.
• Develops and maintains clinical nursing research policies, SOPs, and guidelines.
• Reviews and trends research-related deviations and workflow events, reports findings to management, and recommends action to ensure compliance.
• Supports the development of projects addressing research-related problems and events identified by staff and study teams.
• Collaborates with Clinical Coordinators and CRNCs to orient and train new staff to clinical research.
• Identifies training needs for clinical research nurses to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance.
• Escalates research-related concerns to the appropriate leader or committee.
• Mentors and role models communication with investigator teams and clinical research practices.
• Supports nursing staff during adverse events, emergencies, and difficult clinical situations.
• Provides clinical nursing support to inpatient and/or outpatient teams as needed.
