Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator to support investigator teams and oversee the lifecycle of clinical research studies at NMH and NU collaborations.

The role requires an Illinois RN license, clinical trial experience, and BSN with at least two years of related experience; MSN and SOCRA/ACRP certifications are preferred. AHA CPR-BLS is required, ACLS is preferred, and ongoing staff mentoring and cross-training are part of the duties.

Qualifications

• Current license as a Registered Nurse in Illinois.
• Experience in clinical trials.
• Certification in area of clinical specialty.
• BSN with a minimum of two years related clinical experience.
• CPR-BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• MSN and professional nursing organization membership are preferred.
• ACLS, SOCRA or ACRP certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads coordination and support to Principal Investigator(s).
• Reviews research studies in pre-submission phase for feasibility of protocol implementation.
• Guides review, revision, and maintenance of protocols ensuring compliance.
• Provides guidance to clinical research nurses on new submissions, utilization reviews, and workflows.
• Develops and maintains clinical nursing research policies and SOPs.
• Reviews deviations and reports findings to leadership to ensure compliance.
• Supports development of projects addressing research-related problems/events.
• Collaborates to orient/train new staff in clinical research.
• Identifies training needs for unfamiliar practices and medications to ensure patient safety.
• Escalates research concerns to leadership or committees.
• Serves as mentor and role model for investigator-team collaboration.
• Supports nursing staff during adverse events, emergencies, and difficult clinical situations.
• Provides cross-trained nursing support to inpatient/outpatient teams.
• Participates in hospital committees and maintains clinical proficiency.
