Job summary

SmithRx in Providence, RI is hiring a Plan Operations Pharmacist to support clinical needs and decision-making during implementation. You will advise clients, ensure formulary alignment, and partner with product and operations to optimize drug programs.

The role requires extensive pharmacy experience, clinical knowledge, and strong communication with client leadership and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Advanced Degree in Pharmacy (Pharm D or equivalent).
• Current and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of residence.
• 3+ years of experience as a licensed pharmacist.
• 2+ years working with healthcare benefits, plan designs, or commercial insurance preferred.
• 2+ years in a client-facing role with external clients.
• Executive-level communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical expertise on drug spend, utilization, and formulary compliance for new groups.
• Serve as a clinical SME to support Plan Operations activities.
• Act as a liaison between Plan Operations and internal teams at SmithRx.
• Explain formulary and program value proposition to clients and teams.
• Communicate formulary changes and program updates to partners.
• Recommend clinical programs to achieve client cost savings.
• Stay current with market trends and provide intelligence to clients.
• Communicate drug information and respond to plan-specific inquiries.
• Create and update clinical marketing materials for go-live events.
• Analyze data and interpret drug benefit designs for stakeholders.
