Job summary

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a full-time Medical Office Assistant to support the Peru, Kewanee, and Eureka clinics. This 32-hour-per-week role involves assisting providers with clinical duties, placing emphasis on patient care in exam and treatment rooms, and coordinating with RNs, APNs, and physicians.

Travel between clinics is required to maintain clinic flow. Responsibilities include escorting patients, recording vital signs, updating medication lists, preparing for exams, and maintaining

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in healthcare preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and maintain clinic flow for scheduled visits.
• Record vital signs, height, and weight in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Review and update patient medication lists at each visit.
• Assist with patient preparation for exams and minor diagnostic procedures.
• Clean and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and medical equipment.
• Order and manage clinical supplies and equipment.
• Ensure lab reports are recorded in the patient chart; request external results as needed.
• Support nursing staff in the treatment room and assist with patient needs, including IV removal.
• Travel to satellite clinic locations as needed.
• Perform additional clinical and clerical duties as requested.
• Adhere to HIPAA policies, the ILCC employee handbook, and code of conduct.
