Job summary

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a full-time Medical Office Assistant to join our clinical team, supporting the Peru, Kewanee, and Eureka clinics. The position works four days per week (32 hours) with Thursdays off and requires travel between clinic locations.

The MOA will assist providers with clinical duties and collaborate with RNs, APNs, and physicians in exam and treatment rooms. Responsibilities include patient transport, vital signs, medication list reviews, exam prep, room and equipment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Healthcare experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to exam rooms and maintain clinic flow for scheduled visits.
  • Record vital signs, height, and weight in the EMR.
  • Review and update patient medication lists at each visit.
  • Assist with patient preparation for exams and minor diagnostic procedures.
  • Clean and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and medical equipment.
  • Order and manage clinical supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure lab reports are recorded in the patient chart; request external results as needed.
  • Support nursing staff in the treatment room and assist with patient needs, including IV removal.
  • Travel to satellite clinic locations as needed.
  • Perform additional clinical and clerical duties as requested.
  • Adhere to HIPAA policies and the ILCC employee handbook.

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a full-time Medical Office Assistant (MOA) to join our clinical team, supporting the Peru, Kewanee, and Eureka clinics. This 32-hour-per-week position works four days per week, with a regular day off on Thursdays. The MOA is responsible for assisting providers with clinical duties related to patient care and works directly with RNs, APNs, and physicians in both exam and treatment room settings. Travel between clinic locations is required.

What You'll Do

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience in healthcare preferred but not required
SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, squatting, stooping.
SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS/TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The employee has limited exposure to toxic substances and is expected to be familiar with the dangers and proper handling of such.
  • The employee is exposed to communicable diseases and other conditions common to the clinical environment.
  • Safety policies and good health practices are to be understood and observed.
  • Work is performed in an office environment with frequent contact with staff and patients.
  • Work may be repetitious, and in a high-stress environment.
  • Contact may involve dealing with angry and/or upset people.
