Job summary

Mercy Health in Youngstown seeks a Clinical Nursing Student to gain hands-on experience under RN supervision, delivering direct patient care within the scope of the nursing process and hospital policies.

This role emphasizes clinical Shadowing, patient assistance, accurate documentation, and collaboration with the healthcare team; requires active nursing student with one clinical course and rotation completed, and CPR/BLS preferred.

Qualifications

• HS/GED required.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program and has completed one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
• First Clinical Rotation completed as a Nursing Student.

Responsibilities

• Supports the nurse in applying the nursing process.
• Develops critical thinking skills through collaboration with the RN to ensure quality patient care.
• Provides basic patient care including vital signs, hygiene, mobility, and comfort.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Provides high level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information upon arrival and departure.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency is validated; participates in data collection.
