This is an exciting opportunity to support our new Transitional Care Unit (TCU), which focuses on supporting boarding patients in the ED while they await inpatient beds.

• 3x12-hour shifts
• Full-time nights
• Sign-on bonus eligible

Overview

The Emergency Department at Barnes–Jewish Hospital offers a dynamic, urban setting where each second presents an opportunity to serve a diverse community with a wide range of medical needs. We specialize in rapid assessment and treatment during critical moments of illness and trauma. Our ED is a Level I Trauma center and a regional leader in disaster preparedness. No two shifts are alike; every minute offers new challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

1. Promote patient and family-centered care in a healing environment. Educate patients and families on managing illness or injury, including post-treatment home care and medication administration.
2. Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Engage in professional development.
3. Develop, implement, and document individualized care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patients, families, or caregivers, ensuring communication across the continuum of care.
4. Assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Consider patient preferences, values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
5. This is a safety-sensitive position; the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is essential.

• Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing
