Additional Information About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity as Assistant Nurse Manager to support and help establish our new Transitional Care Unit (TCU). This unit will focus on supporting boarding patients in the ED while they await inpatient beds.

  • 4x10-hour shifts
  • Full-time days
  • Sign-on bonus eligible

The Emergency Department at Barnes-Jewish Hospital offers a dynamic, urban setting where each moment presents an opportunity to serve a diverse community with a wide range of medical needs. We specialize in rapid assessment and treatment, especially during the initial phase of acute illness and trauma. The ED is a Level I Trauma facility and a leader in disaster preparedness for the St. Louis region. No two shifts are alike; every minute counts.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Coordinates patient care, personnel management, equipment maintenance, procurement, and data collection.

Responsibilities
  1. Manages staff including hiring, training, assigning work, evaluating performance, and conducting professional development. Ensures team actions support departmental goals.
  2. Participates in developing staffing, revenue, and expense budgets, with responsibility for adherence and responding to business changes.
  3. Oversees patient care according to planned interventions, considering age and developmental needs, and documents appropriately.
  4. Develops and implements collaborative care plans based on assessments, diagnoses, and treatments.
  5. Reviews staff hours, manages payroll updates, reconciles time cards, and oversees staff communications, including meetings and staffing needs. Conducts performance reviews and disciplinary actions as needed.
  6. Ensures staff productivity aligns with operational goals. Conducts evaluations and recommends improvements.
  7. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring constant alertness and safe work practices.
Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

  • 2-5 years
