Role Details

• OR experience preferred
• 4-10 hour shifts (0615-1645)
• Cardiothoracic position
• Holidays: 1 per year, rotate Winter/Spring
• Orientation: 6 – 9 months for early career nurses, 3 months for experienced nurses

• Specialties include minimally invasive cardiac procedures, heart failure, heart transplants, thoracic, robotic, lung transplants, vascular, and endovascular surgery

Role Purpose: Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family-centered care, educating them on managing illness or injury, post-treatment care, and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance; engages in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individualized care plans with clear goals, collaborating with the interprofessional team, patients, families, or caregivers, and ensuring communication across the care continuum.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, considering patient preferences, values, and cultural backgrounds.
• This is a safety-sensitive position; the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safety is essential.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing

Experience: No experience required
