Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

1. Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and families on managing illness or injury, post-treatment home care, and medication administration.
2. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Engages in professional development.
3. Develops, implements, and documents individualized care plans with goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patients, families, or caregivers, following established standards and guidelines. Ensures communication of the care plan across the continuum.
4. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Considers patient preferences, values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
5. This is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work alertly and safely is essential.
