Position Overview

The Division of Mental Health is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) for the Alton Mental Health Center in Alton, Illinois. The CNM will oversee nursing personnel, ensuring the delivery of quality health and nursing care to patients. The center aims to provide equitable access to social and human services to enhance the lives of those served.

Essential Functions

  1. Serve as Clinical Nurse Manager for the Locust Civil Unit.
  2. Act as a full-line supervisor.
  3. Provide policy and procedure recommendations to the DON.
  4. Evaluate patient services through audits and performance improvement initiatives.
  5. Provide professional nursing services, including admissions, medication administration, and medical history documentation.
  6. Develop plans to reduce restraint/seclusion, outlining staff roles and responsibilities.
  7. Perform other duties within the scope of the role as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Illinois licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Completion of four years of college coursework in nursing.
  • At least three years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience in a public or business setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years supervising professional nursing staff.
  • Three years meeting deadlines with attention to detail and critical thinking across multiple projects.
  • Two years working with individuals with mental illness.
  • Two years developing or recommending treatment plans.
  • Three years communicating with stakeholders regarding patient care.
  • Three years implementing nursing policies based on evidence-based practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Two years recommending disciplinary actions following collective bargaining agreements.

Conditions of Employment

  • Ability to physically restrain patients if necessary.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
  • Availability to serve on-call after hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screening.
