As an Experienced Certified Wound Care Nurse, you will demonstrate effective leadership, advance evidence-based practices, lead unit governance, and coach others in their professional growth. Responsibilities include:
Clinical Practice
- Provides independent care for the specific patient population; serves as a resource, integrates evidence into practice, and functions in unit-specific roles.
- Accountable to patients and families for care processes and outcomes.
- Accountable to peers for practice advancement and to the nurse manager for performance.
- Serves as a clinical expert and resource for nurses, teaching informally or through classes.
- Advances practice by integrating evidence, forming a foundation for unit care.
Service/Quality
- Leads efforts to improve Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators; develops and evaluates action plans.
- Leads performance improvement initiatives, designing and evaluating results.
- Monitors safety standards and contributes to improvement plans.
- Coaches CNI and CNIIs on PI and EBP.
- Participates in regulatory activities.
- Leads unit-level research and practice projects.
Unit Operations
- Performs charge role and coaches new charge nurses.
- Oversees orientation and plans clinical experiences.
- Serves as a unit steward for lab, nutrition, pharmacy, etc.
- Mentors and coaches nurses to develop skills and maintain competencies.
- Models and enforces Healthy Work Environment guidelines.
- Orientates nurses to governance structures.
Professional Development
- Acts as a preceptor, coach, and mentor.
- Mentors leaders and participates in governance initiatives.
- Leads skill development and peer review processes.
- Engages in ongoing practice advancement.
