Clinical Nurse II-Duke Children's Creekstone

Job Summary:

We are seeking aCLINICAL NURSE IIin ourDuke Children's at Creekstone Clinic in Durham, NCto be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administration of immunotherapy injections and associated tasks.
  • Perform patient intake including: obtaining vital signs (including manual blood pressures), administering survey tools, conducting educational assessments (patients/guardians), medication review, assisting patients with preparing questions for provider visit, assisting patients with ambulation/toileting.
  • Completing procedural tasks including administering allergy skin tests, measuring and interpreting allergy skin test results, oral immunotherapy, oral medications, oral food challenges according to protocols and provider orders. Monitor patients for potential reactions to therapy administered. Provide patient/family education, bill for nursing procedures. Administering specialty medication injections. Full assessments as needed. Monitor patients for potential reactions to therapy administered. Provide patient/family education for specialty injections and assess for understanding, bill for nursing procedures. Assist with prior authorizations and triage as available.
  • Documentation in electronic health record and NCIR.
  • Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
  • Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and in performance improvement activities. Communicate effectively regarding improvement work.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Eligibility Requirements:

  • Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
  • All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within seven years of their start date.
  • Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required.
  • Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.

Job Schedule:

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday with occasional Saturday coverage from 8a-12p.
