Job summary

UNC Health Johnston is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Labor & Delivery unit. You will provide competent clinical nursing care in a level II center serving both normal and high-risk laboring patients.

The role reports to the Nurse Manager/Director and focuses on coordinating patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting, with approx. 2000 births per year across two campuses (Smithfield and Clayton).

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Education - participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self.
• Evaluation of Care - identifies expected patient outcomes and communicates with the team.
• Implementation - provides competent care for patients with complex problems using standards and policies.
• Leadership - supports unit goals and collaborates interdepartmentally.
• Patient Assessment - assesses needs and plans discharge preparation with families.
• Planning - coordinates with multidisciplinary resources to update the plan of care.
