Job summary

UNC Health Johnston Health Labor and Delivery Unit is seeking a licensed Registered Nurse to provide competent clinical nursing care in a Level II center serving Smithfield and Clayton. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, you will coordinate and deliver patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.

Responsibilities

• Education - Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends programs and uses patient education materials relevant to patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of patient/family/caregivers.
• Evaluation of Care - Identifies expected patient outcomes. Participates in evaluation of patient care with the interdisciplinary team; communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
• Implementation - Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems; performs bedside testing; follows policies; organizes and prioritizes care; consults resources for complex issues and discharge planning.
• Leadership - Develops goals for professional growth; participates in unit goals and performance improvement; promotes cost-effective care; provides feedback to coworkers.
• Patient Assessment - Recognizes data to determine priorities for care; synthesizes assessment data; plans for discharge needs; builds family relationships to advocate for patient.
• Planning - Collaborates with patient/family to update the plan of care; uses multidisciplinary resources; addresses cultural/ethnic issues; prioritizes tasks for complex patients.
• Research - Reads journals and brings ideas to staff for applicability.
