Job summary

UNC Health Johnston Labor & Delivery is seeking an RN Clinical Nurse II for our Level II unit serving normal and high-risk labouring patients. The role includes 12‑hour shifts (7am–7pm or 7pm–7am) with weekend rotation, on-site coverage, and an incentive program up to $20,000.

The unit handles ~2000 births annually across two campuses, Smithfield and Clayton. Responsibilities include nursing care coordination, education, planning, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• One (1) year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Education: identify and meet learning needs of self; participate in education programs.
• Evaluation of care: evaluate patient outcomes and revise plan of care as needed.
• Implementation: provide care for patients with complex needs and coordinate with the care team.
• Leadership: support unit goals and promote interdepartmental collaboration.
• Patient assessment: prioritize care based on patient and family needs.
• Planning: collaborate with patient/family to plan care and consider cultural factors.
• Research: engage with current literature and bring ideas to the team.

Education

Graduation from a school of professional nursing

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

One year of nursing experience
