Job summary

Duke Health's Otolaryngology team in South Durham (Durham, NC) seeks a Clinical Nurse II to join the care team, delivering direct and indirect patient care in a fast-paced ENT setting. Responsibilities

  • Room patients and intake to include medications, history and vital signs; complete orders as per provider.
  • Set-up and assist with various ENT related procedures.
  • High level disinfection and instrument sterilization.
  • Manage InBasket messages and coordinate with providers and care team.
  • Review future clinic schedules and communicate with patients for upcoming appointments.
  • Triage coverage when Triage RN unavailable; handle calls, messages, and prior authorizations.
  • Stock and stock rooms; monitor for supply and medication expirations dates.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Clinical Nurse II in ourDuke Otolaryngology of South Durhamlocated inDurham, NCto be an integral member of the healthcare team to provide direct and indirect care to patients.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Room Patients and intake to include medications, history and vital signs. Complete orders as per provider:
    • Suture/Staple removal
    • Medication Preparation and Administration
    • Specimen collection s Delegate tasks and supervise activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers.
  • Set-up and assist with various ENT related procedures.
  • High Level disinfection and instrument sterilization
  • Team Inbasket message management
    • Calling patients with results
    • Cardiac clearance for surgical procedures
    • FMLA/Disability, Work excuse
    • Assisting with Provider InBasket management
  • Review future clinic schedules, communicate with patients for upcoming appointments and procedures, gathering necessary imaging.
  • Assist with Triage coverage when Triage RN unavailable– answering calls, inbasket messages, medication refills, prior authorizations.
  • Clean and stock rooms. Monitor for supply and medication expirations dates. Unbox ordered supplies and confirm inventory.
  • Preoperative / Postoperative Education: Provides educational materials, reviews pre-op instructions and ensures understanding of post-op care and recovery expectations.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein set by leadership team.
Job Eligibility Requirements
  • Work requires graduation from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
    • All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the BSN program within seven years of their start date
    • Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within seven years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification.
  • Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required.
  • Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
