Job Summary:

We are seeking a CLINICAL NURSE II at Duke Cardiology of Raleigh, located in Raleigh, NC, to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients.

JOB DUTIES:

1. Manage nurse line for telephone triage with patients, document encounters, follow protocols established by clinic leadership, and inform providers as indicated. Monitor and address all triage-related in-baskets, including MyChart patient advice, Prior Authorizations, Cardiac Clearance Forms, and collaborate with other care team members.
2. Evaluate, assess, and educate patients prior to procedures. Alert MD for necessary modifications prior to Cardiac ultrasound procedures.
3. Start IVs prior to IV Lasix Therapy procedures—calculate dose per physician order and monitor patients.
4. Administer medications to patients as ordered by providers or by established protocols, following the six rights of medication administration.
5. Handle prescription refills according to protocols.
6. Manage and perform PT/INR tests and provide Warfarin education.
7. Maintain department logs, educational materials, and reports as required for accreditation and JCAHO standards (medications, equipment, crash cart).
8. Perform patient intake, including vital signs, visit information, and other clinical data based on patient assessment and clinic needs.
9. Serve as a clinical resource for all Unlicensed Assistive Personnel.
10. Assist in training new staff for cross-coverage and educational purposes.
11. Participate in performance improvement projects and act as a liaison in various clinic-related projects.
12. Provide nursing coverage for satellite clinics in Morrisville as needed.
13. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Eligibility Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited BSN, Associate's Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program.
• All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and complete it within seven years.
• At least twelve months of appropriate clinical experience.
• Current or compact RN licensure in North Carolina. BLS certification required.

Job Hours:

The schedule is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
