Job summary

UofL Health's University Hospital - UMC in Louisville, KY seeks a certified Medical Technologist to perform hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and in-house testing, with emphasis on quality control and CLIA compliance. You will use Allscripts EHR to report results and communicate with providers.

The role includes specimen preparation, instrument maintenance, proficiency testing, data reporting, and adherence to HIPAA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science field or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• Certification as Medical Technologist (ASCP/NCA/AMT) is preferred or required.
• Minimum 1 year experience; pediatric experience preferred.
• Experience with CLIA rules and proficiency testing.

Responsibilities

• Analyze patient samples according to approved standards of testing.
• Perform quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of results.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments for accuracy.
• Prepare and process specimens for testing and reference lab submission.
• Communicate with reference labs and report results via EHR.
• Ensure HIPAA privacy and security compliance.
