Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Medical Technologist to collect blood specimens and perform hematology, chemistry and microbiology testing in-house. You will also process specimens for reference labs and communicate results via Allscripts EHR.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology, and certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP/NCA/AMT) with at least 1 year of experience; pediatric experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution, or must satisfy CLIA certification standards.
• Certified as Medical Technologist by ASCP, NCA, or AMT; 1+ year experience; pediatric experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens and perform hematology, chemistry and microbiology testing in house.
• Perform urinalysis, microscopy, rapid strep, throat cultures.
• Process specimens for reference laboratory as needed.
• Communicate with reference laboratory as needed.
• Use Allscripts EHR for reporting tests and communicating with providers.
• Maintain calibration and standardization of laboratory instruments.
• Perform quarterly proficiency testing and CLIA-related records.
