Job summary

UofL Health seeks a Medical Technologist to collect samples and perform hematology, chemistry, and microbiology testing in-house at JHHS - Jewish Hospital - UMC in Louisville, KY. The role includes data entry in Allscripts EHR, QA/QC, and adherence to CLIA regulations.

Shift options include 8, 10, or 12 hours with varying weekly hours. Essential functions include analyzing specimens, maintaining instruments, preparing samples, and communicating results to providers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• Certification as Medical Technologist by ASCP, NCA, or AMT.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience; pediatric experience preferred.
• Experience in a physician office setting and EHR usage preferred.
• Knowledge of CLIA rules and laboratory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze patient samples according to approved testing standards.
• Perform quality control procedures and record results.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment for accurate results.
• Process and identify samples for testing and reporting.
• Document test results in the EHR and report critical values.
• Handle clerical tasks: filing reports, slides, and specimens; answer phones.
• Ensure safety, compliance with HIPAA, and quality assurance.
• Assist with staff training and department procedures.

Education
