Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Medical Technologist for the South Hospital – UMC in Shepherdsville, KY, to perform hematology, chemistry and microbiology testing in-house. Third shift duties apply, with a focus on accurate specimen processing and reporting via Allscripts EHR.

The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology and meet CLIA certification requirements. Prior lab experience and pediatric exposure are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution or CLIA equivalent.
• Certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP, NCA, AMT) or CLIA-compliant equivalent is required.
• Experience in a physician office setting and pediatric population is preferred.
• Knowledge of CLIA rules and safety practices is essential to ensure lab compliance.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens and perform hematology, chemistry and microbiology testing in house.
• Perform urinalysis, microscopy, rapid strep screens and throat cultures.
• Collect, process and prepare specimens to be sent to reference laboratory.
• Utilize Allscripts EHR for reporting tests and communicating with providers.
• Perform routine maintenance, calibration and standardization of laboratory instruments.
• Maintain daily/ monthly statistics of laboratory tests and inventory of supplies.
