Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health's Monmouth Medical Center is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform and monitor high‑complexity diagnostic testing in the MMC Microbiology lab, ensuring accurate results and compliance with regulatory standards.

We require a bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or related field; ASCP or AMT MT/MLS certification is preferred; 1–3 years of experience; strong instrument calibration skills and the ability to train junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or related field.
• Certification by ASCP or AMT as a Medical Technologist (MT) or MLS preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience performing moderate to high complexity laboratory testing.
• Advanced knowledge of complex laboratory testing methodologies.
• Advanced instrument calibration and maintenance knowledge.
• Regulatory and accreditation requirements familiarity.
• Ability to analyze and validate laboratory results.
• Ability to train and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Performs high-complexity testing across assigned laboratory disciplines.
• Interprets and validates test results prior to release.
• Performs advanced instrument calibration and maintenance procedures.
• Investigates abnormal or inconsistent test results and determines root cause.
• Develops and monitors quality control and quality assurance processes.
• Reviews and updates standard operating procedures.
• Trains and mentors junior staff and students.
• Maintains inventory and appropriate storage conditions.
