Job summary

Inova Fairfax Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to serve as a Clinical Mentor for the Family Centered Care/Postpartum team. The role supports the women’s health mission and promotes excellence in childbirth, reproductive and pelvic care along with related services.

The position emphasizes coaching, education, and career development for nursing staff, with a full-time schedule Monday–Friday and some flexibility based on department needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
• 2 years of progressive nursing experience in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor.
• BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.

Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff through promotion and delivery of high-quality nursing care.
• Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill specified responsibilities.
• Provide support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors to ensure a smooth transition into practice and the work environment.
• Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members.
• Participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression from novice to proficient nurse for new or existing clinicians.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing


• Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor.


• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.
