Job summary

Inova Health System’s Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is seeking an experienced RN Clinical Mentor to support the Emergency Department. This role focuses on training, coaching and mentoring ED staff to deliver high-quality nursing care.

Full-time, Monday–Friday with some flexibility based on department needs. You will orient and develop nursing staff to ensure competence, provide support to novice and advanced nurses and participate in educational program delivery and evaluation to promote career

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
• 2 years nursing experience in designated specialty; 3 months as preceptor.
• BLS certification; licensed or eligible for Virginia RN licensure (or multi-state).

Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff.
• Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence.
• Support novice and advanced nurses and preceptors during transition into practice.
• Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet clinical and social adjustment needs of team members.
• Participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression.

Clinical Mentor Job Responsibilities:

• Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff through the promotion and delivery of high-quality nursing care.
• Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill specified responsibilities.
• Provide support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors to ensure a smooth transition into practice and the work environment.
• Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members.
• Participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression from novice to proficient nurse for new or existing clinicians.

Hours:Full-time, M-F(regular office hours, with some flexibility as needed based on department needs)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing
• Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor.
• Certification:BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum 4 years of Emergency Department experience
• Pediatric Emergency Department experience
