Job summary

Inova Health System in Falls Church, VA, seeks an experienced RN Clinical Mentor to support Women’s Medical Unit and Med Surg teams. This full-time role centers on coaching, education, and staff development to elevate nursing care quality.

You will orient and mentor nurses, contribute to training programs, and help staff transition into practice while promoting career growth within a respected nonprofit health system.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Experience: 2 years of progressive nursing experience; 3 months as preceptor.
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in Virginia as RN or multi-state RN.

Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff in nursing care.
• Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence.
• Provide support to novice and experienced nurses and preceptors during transition.
• Integrate knowledge to meet clinical and social needs of team members.
• Participate in design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs for career progression.

Clinical Mentor Job Responsibilities:

• Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff through the promotion and delivery of high-quality nursing care.
• Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill specified responsibilities.
• Provide support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors to ensure a smooth transition into practice and the work environment.
• Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members.
• Participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression from novice to proficient nurse for new or existing clinicians.

Hours:Full-time, M-F(regular office hours, with some flexibility as needed based on department needs)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing
• Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor.
• Certification:BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.
