Job summary

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking an RN Clinical Educator Nursing to collaborate with the Women’s Medical, Original 3 and Adult Observation departments. The role emphasizes assessment of staff competency, integration of theory with practice, and fostering ongoing professional development.

The educator will prepare self-development plans, support quality and safety initiatives, and participate in organizational education programs.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or BSN and enrollment in a Master’s program at start.
• 2 years progressive nursing experience in the designated specialty; 3 months preceptorship experience.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association; licensed or eligible for Virginia RN licensure or multi-state license.

Responsibilities

• Assess competency of new nursing staff using system strategies and tools.
• Translate theory and evidence-based practice into educational experiences for staff.
• Develop annual self-development plans and professional goals.
• Contribute to quality and safety initiatives across the organization.

Clinical Educator Job Responsibilities

• Utilizes system strategies and tools to assess the competency of new nursing staff members while focusing on quality of care and patient safety goals.
• Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based principles and clinical nursing expertise into educational experiences for both new and experienced team members.
• Prepares annual self-development plans, sets professional goals and seek opportunities for achieving them.
• Contributes to quality and safety initiatives across the organization.

Hours: Full-time, M-F (regular office hours, with some flexibility as needed based on department needs)

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Master’s Degree or BSN and enrolled in Master’s program upon start. If RN has a BSN and enrolled in Master’s program, RN must meet with their Nurse Leader within 3 months to conduct the following:
• Provide a written plan with anticipated Masters completion date
• Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses
• Complete Masters within 3 years of start date.
• Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.
