Job summary

Inova Health is seeking an experienced RN Clinical Mentor to lead training and mentoring for the Float Pool departments at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia. The role supports overall patient care quality and staff development across shifts and specialties.

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, 2 years of progressive nursing experience in a designated specialty, and 3 months as a preceptor, plus BLS certification and Virginia RN licensure eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
• 2 years of progressive nursing experience in designated specialty.
• 3 months experience serving as preceptor.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association; licensed or eligible for Virginia RN license (or multi-state RN license).

Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff through promotion and delivery of high-quality nursing care.
• Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill responsibilities.
• Provide support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors for smooth transition into practice and work environment.
• Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members.
• Participate in design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression.

Clinical Mentor Job Responsibilities

• Participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression from novice to proficient nurse for new or existing clinicians.

Hours: Full-time, M-F (regular office hours, with some flexibility as needed based on department needs)

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing
• Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor.
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.
