Job summary

Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking an experienced RN Operating Room Clinical Nurse Mentor to support OR staff, provide education, and advance nursing practice in a Magnet-recognized facility.

The full-time role emphasizes orientation, coaching, and the development of nursing staff across multiple surgical specialties in a busy operating room environment.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Experience: 2 years of progressive nursing experience in the designated specialty; 3 months as a preceptor.

Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff through promotion and delivery of high-quality nursing care.
• Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill responsibilities.
• Provide support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors for smooth transition into practice and work environment.
• Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members.
• Participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression.

Inova Alexandria Hospitalis looking for anexperienced RN Operating Room (OR) Clinical Nurse Mentor.

Our OR is equipped with 11 OR suites and 4 Endoscopy Suites. Comprehensive range of surgical specialties to include, orthopedics-total joints, sports medicine, spine, general ENT, gynecology, urology, plastics, vascular, neurosurgery, robotics, podiatry, and maxillofacial. Full range of Endoscopy services including Heartburn Treatment.

Clinical Mentor Job Responsibilities:

• Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff through the promotion and delivery of high-quality nursing care.
• Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill specified responsibilities.
• Provide support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors to ensure a smooth transition into practice and the work environment.
• Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members.
• Participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression from novice to proficient nurse for new or existing clinicians.

Hours:Full-time, M-F(regular office hours, with some flexibility as needed based on department needs)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing
• Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor.
• Certification:BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.
