Job summary

Inova Health at Inova Fairfax Medical Center in Falls Church, VA, is seeking an RN Clinical Mentor to support the Family Centered Care/Postpartum team. This role focuses on training and guiding nursing staff to deliver high-quality obstetric and women's health care across the patient journey.

You will orient and develop nursing staff, support novice and experienced clinicians, and help design and evaluate educational programs that promote clinical growth and career progression.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• Experience: 2 years nursing in designated specialty; 3 months as preceptor.
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in Virginia as RN or multi-state RN license.

Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff through promoting high-quality nursing care.
• Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill responsibilities.
• Provide support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors for smooth transition into practice and work environment.
• Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members.
• Participate in design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression.

Clinical Mentor Job Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff through the promotion and delivery of high-quality nursing care.
• Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill specified responsibilities.
• Provide support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors to ensure a smooth transition into practice and the work environment.
• Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members.
• Participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression from novice to proficient nurse for new or existing clinicians.

Hours: Full-time, M-F (regular office hours, with some flexibility as needed based on department needs)

Minimum Qualifications

• Education : Bachelors Degree in Nursing
• Experience : 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor.
• Certification : BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.
