Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in Virginia is seeking an experienced RN Clinical Mentor to support the Emergency Department with training and coaching.

The role focuses on developing nursing staff through education, orientation, and career progression, while ensuring high standards of patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
• 2 years of progressive nursing experience in a designated specialty; 3 months as preceptor.
• BLS from American Heart Association; licensed or eligible for Virginia RN license (or multi-state license).
• Preferred: 4+ years in Emergency Department; pediatric ED experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff to promote high-quality nursing care.
• Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and responsibilities.
• Provide support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors for a smooth transition into practice and the work environment.
• Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members.
• Participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs for career progression from novice to proficient nurse.

Clinical Mentor Job Responsibilities:

• Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff through the promotion and delivery of high-quality nursing care.
• Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill specified responsibilities.
• Provide support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors to ensure a smooth transition into practice and the work environment.
• Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members.
• Participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression from novice to proficient nurse for new or existing clinicians.

Hours:Full-time, M-F(regular office hours, with some flexibility as needed based on department needs)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing
• Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor.
• Certification:BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum 4 years of Emergency Department experience
• Pediatric Emergency Department experience
