Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians in coordinating patient care, preparing exam rooms, and documenting in the EHR. You will obtain vital signs, update patient history, screen tobacco and medications, and assist with procedures in a team-based clinical setting.

You may perform back-office testing, assist with scheduling and follow-up communications, ensure supplies are stocked, and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• High School / GED or completion of Medical Assistant program.
• Certification requirements: MA certification within 120 days if not already certified.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care under supervision of health care provider.
• Prepare and room patients per standardized workflows.
• Accurately obtain vital signs and document patient information.
• Review medication lists and update EHR accordingly.
• Assist with back-office testing and with examinations/procedures.
• May act as a scribe with additional training.
• Provide follow-up communications per provider instructions.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain supplies.
• Sterilize instruments and perform lab controls as assigned.
• Document medications in accordance with policy and safe practice.
• Perform clerical duties and may travel between locations.
