Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a Medical Assistant to support providers and the care team in coordinating examination, treatment and health care planning. You will assist with office functions, room patients, obtain vitals, review medication lists in the EHR, help with screenings, and ensure orders are prepared per AHN protocols.

Maintain patient safety and comfort, adhere to workflows, assist with lab controls and specimen handling as directed.

Qualifications

• High School / GED or completion of a Medical Assistant program.
• Certification training and/or testing within 30 days of hire and certification within 120 days of hire.
• CPR – American Heart Association and background clearances required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in coordinating patient care under supervision of the provider.
• Prepares and rooms patients; obtains vitals and documents history and screenings.
• Reviews medication lists in the EHR and supports age-appropriate screenings.
• Performs back office testing and assists with examinations and procedures.
• May serve as a scribe with training and documents in the EHR per standards.
• Keeps exam rooms stocked and maintains inventory; sterilizes instruments.
• Documents accurately in the EHR and may float between locations.
