Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a Medical Assistant to support coordinated patient care within a team-based healthcare setting. You will assist with exam preparation, vital signs, documentation in the EHR, and medication screening under provider supervision.

The role involves rooming patients, updating medication lists, assisting with procedures, and potentially serving as a scribe with training. Occasional travel between AHN locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School or GED or completion of a Medical Assistant program.
• Certification must be obtained within 120 days of hire if required by criteria.
• Preferred: Associate's Degree.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating patient care under supervision of the provider using a team-based approach.
• Prepare and room patients, obtain vital signs, document patient information, history, tobacco and medication screening.
• Review and update medication lists in the EHR and assist with order entry as per AHN protocols.
• Assist with examinations and procedures and support with lab testing per AHN policies.
• May serve as a scribe with additional training and provide follow-up to patients as directed.
• Document in the EHR accurately and maintain proper inventory in treatment rooms.
• Perform clerical duties and may float between office locations as needed.
