Job summary

The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, completion of a Medical Assistant program, and obtain MA certification within 12 months of hire, plus CPR/BLS within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or Eligible for certification by a recognized MA body within 12 months of hire
• Licenses/Certifications: RMA, CMA, CCMA or NRCMA required within 12 months of hire; CPR/BLS within 30 days of hire
• Six (6) months of medical assistant experience required; externship if no experience
• Demonstrates ability to maintain good communications; ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees, physicians, patients, families, and the public
• Working knowledge of ICD9/10 and CPT coding and insurance procedures

Responsibilities

• Delivers appropriate care to patients under the supervision of a physician.
• Assists providers with patient examinations and procedures, including surgical procedures and diagnostic studies.
• Reviews charts prior to appointments to ensure labs and tests are complete and results accessible to the provider.
• Records patient vital signs and uses EMR appropriately.
• Administers medications as directed and performs venipuncture and basic lab tests as procedures allow.
