Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) seeks a Medical Assistant to deliver high-quality patient care in a team-based model for BIDHC patients and support smooth administrative and clinical operations.

You will assist during visits, perform MA duties under supervision, and participate in population health outreach to improve care outcomes. A strong focus on patient safety, PHI privacy, and seamless workflow is essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's in Health Science preferred.
• MA/ CNA/ EMT/ Phlebotomy certificates preferred.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Demonstrated MA competencies within 1 year of hire.
• Basic computer skills; basic navigation of web-based apps.

Responsibilities

• Develop long-term empathetic relationships with patients, families and colleagues to aid care.
• Assist during visits: manage flow, explain delays, update med lists, review PHQ-9, coordinate with staff.
• Clearly communicate hand-offs to providers and enter visit information in the EHR.
• Perform MA duties under supervision: vital signs, EKGs, POCT, phlebotomy, immunizations.
• Lead population health outreach and health coaching to meet quality goals.
• Maintain equipment and supplies, ensure sterility and proper expiration handling.
• Queue prescriptions and order tests in the EHR as directed by clinicians.
• Schedule diagnostic and lab tests while verifying insurance, referrals and pre-authorizations.
• Identify OSHA issues and uphold PHI safety and compliance.
