Job summary

Cal Poly is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical and administrative services within the student health setting. The role covers diagnostic testing, phlebotomy, patient intake, vital signs, and treatment assistance, along with room preparation and supply management.

You will coordinate scheduling, referrals, insurance communications, EHR documentation and patient care activities, while maintaining a safe care environment and supporting psychology and counseling services as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certificate of completion from accredited medical assisting program or campus training program required.
• Basic life support (CPR/AED) certification for Healthcare Providers required.

Responsibilities

• Perform broad range of clinical medical assistant duties including diagnostic testing, phlebotomy, patient intake, vital signs, treatment assistance, and specimen collection.
• Prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, manage inventory and supplies, maintain safe patient care environment.
• Coordinate patient care by managing scheduling, registrations, referrals, insurance communication, EHRs, and clinical documentation.
• Provide front-office and administrative support; act as primary contact for patients and coordinate appointments for medical, counseling, and psychological services.
• Review student health records and perform related duties to support efficient healthcare delivery.
