Job summary

College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy seeks an experienced Medical Assistant to support clinical and front-desk operations. You will take vital signs, assist providers with exams, collect specimens, and document patient information in EPIC.

The role includes scheduling, insurance verification, co-pay collection, and managing referrals and no-shows. Strong communication, computer literacy, and HIPAA compliance are essential.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program or LPN license.
  • 3 years in a physician's office with scheduling, registration, and collections experience preferred.
  • Experience with the Epic EMR and knowledge of medical and insurance terminology is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills required; HIPAA compliance expected.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain vital signs and general health information for patient chart and prepare patient for examination.
  • Assist provider with examinations and procedures as needed.
  • Collect laboratory specimens and perform tests as ordered; arrange for testing, admissions, and referrals.
  • Enter and record patient information in the Epic EMR accurately.
  • Assist front desk staff with check-in, verify patient identity, and ensure correct insurance and demographics.
  • Obtain signatures, collect co-payments, and balance daily payments; discuss balances with patients at check-in/check-out.
  • Schedule follow-up and referral appointments; manage No Show appointments to minimize lost patients.
  • Answer phones and manage communications with patients, providers, staff, and outside entities; relay messages to physicians and care team.
  • Obtain insurance authorizations for special testing; manage Epic work queues and coordinate with outside offices.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance; ensure clean, safe environment; support HIM with information release requests.
