Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. You will take vital signs, document patient information, schedule appointments, and help manage patient flow.

The role involves direct patient interaction to ensure comfort, coordination with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff, and adherence to privacy guidelines in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• BLS Certification or data conversion credentials preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or related credential preferred.
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic preferred in MA.

Responsibilities

• Assists with onboarding and day-to-day questions for junior Medical Assistants.
• Show patients to examination rooms and prepare equipment; interview patients and record vitals.
• Explain procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions; provide patient education materials.
• Answer phones, take dictation, and process insurance forms while liaising with departments.
• Collect blood, tissue, or other specimens; log and prepare for testing; phlebotomy if competent.
• Maintain immunization inventory and check expiration dates; administer vaccines when certified.
