Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
• BLS through American Heart Association.
• Nationally certified as CMA/CCMA/RMA by AAMA/AMT/ARMA/NAHP/NHA/NCCT.
• Completion of Medical Assistant Core Skills and specialty competencies as defined by the Scope of Practice for Medical Assistants.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs and report findings to the provider to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Perform clinical tasks including vital signs, procedures, preventive services, and medication refills per plan to maintain clinic flow.
• Contribute to the development of patient care plans with the interdisciplinary team and support patient self-management.
• Provide patient/family education by assessing health literacy and readiness, delivering teaching, and evaluating effectiveness.
• Encourage patient engagement in their care through motivational interviewing and self-management support.
• Precept and mentor new staff or MA students as needed.
