Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association required.
• National CMA/CCMA/ARMA/NAHP/NHA/NCCT certification required.
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant Core Skills and specialty competencies defined in the Scope of Practice.

Responsabilités

• Assess patient physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs and report findings to the provider to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Demonstrate competency in vital signs, procedures, preventive services, previsit planning and follow-up, and follow-up medication refills per protocol.
• Contribute to patient plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and identify barriers to participation in care plans.
• Provide patient/family education by assessing health literacy and readiness, delivering teaching and evaluating effectiveness.
• Encourage patient engagement using motivational interviewing and self-management support tools and teach-back.
• Precept and mentor new staff or MA students as needed.
